The designated Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival, Alexander Pereira, has appointed Cecilia Bartoli Artistic Leader of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival starting in 2012. 10. DECEMBER 2009
The Salzburg Festival finished the 2009 season with a total rate of 93% of seats sold. The Supervisory Board commended the courageous artistic and financial leadership of the Directorate, which defied the negative economic situation. The fact that the thought-inspiring opera program obviously touched a contemporary nerve was proven not only by the high demand for tickets even during the Festival itself. 37% of all bookings between March and August were made through the Salzburg Festival website alone.
