The Festival poster appeared with a new motif that has served as the Festival’s emblem ever since. The award-winning design, by Poldi Wojtek, shows a mask behind Hohensalzburg Fortress, combined with Salzburg flags. In addition to five new productions, the Leningrad Opera Studio was invited to put on a guest performance. Conservative critics felt called upon to complain of a "Bolshevik invasion of the Festival".
