Salzburger Festspiele und Theater Kinderchor
The Salzburger Festspiele und Theater Kinderchor is starting its tenth season in summer 2018 playing an established role in the opera productions of the Salzburg Festival. It has performed with soloists such as Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann and Piotr Beczala; conductors including Riccardo Muti, Christian Thielemann, Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel, John Eliot Gardiner and Franz Welser-Möst; as well as many orchestras and choirs, among which can be counted the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela and Monteverdi Choir.
Recent opera productions of the Salzburg Festival in which the choir performed include Die Frau ohne Schatten, Macbeth, Carmen, La bohème, Der Rosenkavalier, Werther and Wozzeck. The Children’s Choir also puts on its own productions at the Salzburg Landestheater, such as The Chorus (2014), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2017) and Kick it like Beckham (2018). In addition, the choir has participated in various television and cinema productions including Christmas with Rolando Villazón (ServusTV/RAI 2015), The Wagner Clan — A Family History (ZDF 2013), Im weißen Rössl (2013) and The Trapp Family — A Life for Music (2015), on top of guest performances at Hamburg’s Thalia Theater (2013) and the Deutsche Oper Berlin (2016).
The music director of the Salzburger Festspiele und Theater Kinderchor is Wolfgang Götz and its vocal coach is Regina Sgier.
The Children’s Choir will perform in this year’s Festival production of Pyotr I. Tchaikovky’s The Queen of Spades and will celebrate its tenth anniversary in a gala concert within the scope of the Fest zur Festspieleröffnung.
