Heroes and Motifs of Greek Mythology with Philippe Jaroussky

Young Singers Project 2015

Plácido Domingo • Gala Concert Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of his Salzburg Debut

( 3 Mar 2015 ) Plácido Domingo has decided to retire the role of Conte di Luna from his repertoire and has therefore cancelled all respective performances in Berlin, Milan and Salzburg. Fortunately, it will still be possible to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Plácido Domingo’s Salzburg debut with a gala concert at the Festival.

Grigory Sokolov chooses solo recital at the Salzburg Festival for his new live album

January 19, 2015 will see the worldwide release of Grigory Sokolov’s recital featuring works by Mozart and Chopin, which was recorded at the Salzburg Festival in 2008 and is being released by DGG as part of the SALZBURG FESTIVAL DOCUMENTS edition. It is the first concert the pianist has permitted to be published in more than 20 years, having signed an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon this past October.

The 2015 Concert Programme

( 6 Nov 2014 ) Designing a concert programme is like weaving. Like a textile’s warp, there are given constants that create structure. In our case, these are the traditional series featuring the Vienna Philharmonic, the series of guest orchestras, Salzburg’s Mozarteum Orchestra, the Salzburg Camerata, great soloists and song recitalists of our times, intriguing chamber music formations and the most interesting performers of New Music – every year, we weave all of these into new patterns with other weft threads. Many of these threads take their origin in the Ouverture spirituelle and give rise to other series in their own right.

Review of The Opera and Concert Programme 2014

( 1 Sep 2014 ) The 94th edition of the Salzburg Festival began with a highly atmospheric, sold-out Ouverture spirituelle. The overwhelming rendition of the Vespro della Beata Vergine by John Eliot Gardiner at the Cathedral and the concert featuring Mozart’s final symphonies with Nikolaus Harnoncourt were early highlights of an immensely successful Festival season which attracted more than 270,000 guests.

Nestlé and Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award Ceremony: Maxime Pascal Conducted the Award Winner’s Concert

( 18 Aug 2014 ) Jury chairman Ingo Metzmacher and Peter Brabeck-Lethmathe, President of the Board of Nestlé S.A., presented the “Nestlé and Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award”, carrying a cash value of € 15,000, after yesterday’s Award Winner’s Concert at the Felsenreitschule. “It is an impressive experience to receive this important award in Salzburg. The audience here is great,” Maxime Pascal said. The programme of his concert with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra featured La Mer by Debussy and Poème de l’amour et de la mer by Ernest Chausson, with the out+standing mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa performing the solo part. The rousing finale was Stravinsky’s Firebird.
