( 4 Aug 2015 ) What was the most exotic or special location you have ever performed in?
The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) has appeared literally all over the world. For me personally one of the most exotic places for us was also the least exotic place for our Music Director. We performed in a Cricket Club in Mumbai in the rain. The occasion was the 100th anniversary of Mehli Mehta's birth. The irony was that the people who had purchased the most expensive seats were the ones who were getting wet, although many of them had someone holding an umbrella over their heads throughout the concert! The soloist was Placido Domingo, and he got quite wet as well!

( 22 Jul 2015 ) This year, the Salzburg Festival takes place for the 95th time. Last weekend, the traditional performance of Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, part of the Ouverture spirituelle, and the premiere of Jedermann launched the festival season. The opening ceremony of the Salzburg Festival takes place at the Felsenreitschule on July 26 at 11 am. The ceremony will be attended by the Austrian President Dr. Heinz Fischer, Landeshauptmann Dr. Wilfried Haslauer, the Austrian Minister of Art and Culture, Constitution and Media Dr. Josef Ostermayer and Festival President Helga Rabl-Stadler. The keynote address will be delivered this year by Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Safranski.

( 14 Jul 2015 ) Unfortunately, Elīna Garanča has cancelled her appearances at the Salzburg Festival for this summer, sending the following message:
“Due to personal reasons, I much regret to withdraw from my professional activities until further notice. My mother is suffering from terminal cancer, so I will now stay by her side in Riga. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and ask for your understanding in this difficult time.”
