Festival President Helga Rabl-Stadler honoured

( 13 Aug 2016 )  Festival President Helga Rabl-Stadler received a medal of the Republic of Italy today. She received the “Grande Ufficiale dell’ordine della Stella d’Italia” in the presence of Maestro Riccardo Muti after his concert with the Vienna Philharmonic. The medal was presented by the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in Vienna, H. E. Giorgio Marrapodi.

Still, the focus of Sven-Eric Bechtolf’s production is more on the Count and Countess, the soprano says. And yet Susanna is “the Hans Sachs of lyric sopranos,” she says with a laugh. In that email, the tenor voiced his interest in performing the opera Il templario by Otto Nicolai, the founder of the Vienna Philharmonic. Hellsberg is not only the former Chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic, but also a veritable expert on the life and work of Otto Nicolai. “It is very meaningful when a great artist such as Flórez champions such a rarely performed opera,” says Clemens Hellsberg.
