Marie Perbost*

French soprano Marie Perbost comes from a family of musicians and is currently a member of the Opera Academy of the Paris Opéra. Among the roles she has sung onstage are Blanche in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Despina (Così fan tutte), the Young Woman in Boesmans’s Reigen and Elisetta in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto.

In 2015 Marie Perbost won the Prize of the Centre Français de Promotion Lyrique at the Opéra Grand Avignon and in 2016 reached the final of the Concours de Genève as well as being named a Rising Star by Adami, France’s performing rights society. In 2018 she was acclaimed as a ‘Révélation’ at the Victoires de la Musique classique. In 2015 she and Josephine Ambroselli won the Grand Prix at the International Nadia and Lili Boulanger Competition for singers and pianists. She also sings for Ensemble 101, a contemporary music theatre collective of which she is a founder member and artistic director.

Marie Perbost has already worked with a number of distinguished conductors and has sung under Emmanuelle Haïm in a concert at Les Invalides in Paris. She has also performed Brahms’s Neue Liebesliederwalzer under Lionel Sow at the Paris Philharmonie and taken part in a performance of Bach’s St John Passion under Philippe Perlot in Notre Dame. Invitations have taken her to the Festival La Folle Journée in Nantes, the Festival de musique sacrée et baroque in Froville, the Festival du Périgord Noir, the Festival de la Vézère and the Festival Pablo Casals.

In 2018/19 she will appear as Marzelline (Fidelio) at the Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing and as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) in Tours.

As a participant in the 2018 Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project Marie Perbost is singing Pamina in The Magic Flute for Children.
