Noluyanda Mqulwana was born in Cape Town. She began dancing at the age of nine with the Dance for All Project directed by Philip Boyd and completed her training at the Alexander Sinton High School of Arts. She joined the Dance for All Company in 2005 and the Cinevox Junior Company in Switzerland, directed by Malou Fenaroli Leclerc, in 2007.
She has performed with numerous other companies including the Cape Town City Ballet, Inspiration Dance Company, Free Flight Dance Company, La Rosa Spanish Dance Theatre and Jazzart Dance Theatre, as well as appearing with the Buskaid Soweto String Ensemble at the BBC Proms, the Cité de la Musique in Paris and for Dance4Life in Holland. She also appeared in The Lion King in Singapore and Hamburg.
In 2012 the Fairplay Foundation awarded her a grant to establish an arts school in Namibia. She currently works as a dance captain and choreographer for Mother Africa’s production Khayelitsha and as a teacher at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg.
