Mariana Souza was born in Brazil and studied classical ballet, modern dance, jazz and tap, at the Centro de Movimento Deborah Colker in Rio, while receiving her musical training at the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música. Her first successes as a dancer were in the USA, and she choreographed the telenovela Páginas da Vida in Brazil, where she also appeared as a dancer. In 2007 she accepted an offer to appear as Sarabi and other roles in the Hamburg production of The Lion King. Mariana Souza has also appeared at the Komische Oper Berlin in Nico Dostal’s operetta Clivia, the Spoliansky revue Heute Nacht oder nie, Kiss Me, Kate and as Rosalia in West Side Story. She was in the ensemble in Mary Poppins at the Ronacher Theatre in Vienna, where she also covered the role of Mrs Corry.
