Ann Hould-Ward has designed the costumes for numerous operas includ-ing I Love You, Peter’s Great Creation (Mikhailovsky Theatre, St Petersburg), Peter Grimes (Metropolitan Opera, New York), The Most Happy Fella (New York City Opera), Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (Los Angeles Opera), Regina (Florida Grand Opera) and Amelia (Seattle Opera). Her work in dance includes projects with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (Reminicin’, Saddle Up, Morning Star), American Ballet Theatre (Othello, Artemis, Meadow) and the Norwegian National Ballet (Othello). Her work on Broadway includes The Color Purple, The Visit, The People in the Picture, A Free Man of Color (Drama Desk nomination), A Catered Affair (Drama Desk nomination), Company, Dance of the Vampires, Beauty and the Beast (Tony Award, American Theatre Wing’s Design Award, Ovation Award), Into the Woods (Tony and Drama Desk nominations, Outer Critics Circle nomination, Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award), Falsettos, Sunday in the Park with George (Tony and Drama Desk nominations), Harrigan ’N Heart, Dream, St Joan, Three Men on a Horse and Timon of Athens. Her international engagements include Dear World and Imagine This (West End), Der Schuh des Manitu (Theater des Westens, Berlin) and 35 productions of Beauty and the Beast (Olivier nomination for best costume design, Mexico City Theatre Critics Award). Her designs Off-Broadway include Passion (revival at Classic Stage Company), Russian Transport, The Blue Flower, Wings, In the Grand Manner, Let Me Down Easy, Road Show, Surviving Grace, Lobster Alice and Cymbeline, as well as over 100 credits in regional theatres. Ann Hould-Ward is the US representative for the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space and a recipient of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Patricia Zipprodt Award.
