Ramamoorthy Sriganesh

Ramamoorthy Sriganesh studied the art of the mridangam, the principal Southern Indian percussion instrument, from esteemed artists such as V. Natraja Iyer in Chidambaram and A. Prem Kumar, a disciple of Tanjore Murugabhoopathy. Ramamoorthy Sriganesh has performed widely in East Africa, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, Far East, the USA, Canada, Japan, Europe, Uganda and Australia. Since 1998 Ramamoorthy Sriganesh has conducted percussion ensembles, as well as accompanying leading dancers and musicians on the mridangam. In 2003 he launched his ensemble Dhwani, which has performed at prestigious venues across India, including the Neemrana Art Foundation, the Delhi International Arts Festival and the Anusham Festival, as well as in Japan at the invitation of the Min-On Association. Ramamoorthy Sriganesh has also composed rhythm sequences for productions by eminent Indian dancers. He is an A-grade artist at All India Radio and Doordarshan and his ensemble Dhwani is enrolled with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
