Tamzin Griffin

Tamzin Griffin was born in Reading, England, and has been working as an actress and occasionally as a musician for 26 years. In Austria, she has performed in the junk opera Shockheaded Peter by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch (Wiener Festwochen, 2001) and in Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita of the Compagnie Complicite (director: Simon McBurney; Wiener Festwochen, 2012). Further Complicite works included Strange Poetry (2004), Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure (2004) and Bulgakov’s A Dog’s Heart (2010). Her most recent appearances were with the Royal Shakespeare Company: Shakespeare’s Othello (director: Kathryn Hunter) and The Empress by Tanika Gupta (director: Emma Rice). At the National Theatre in London, she performed in the world premiere of Greenland and in Tadeusz Słobodzianek’s Our Class (both directed by Vijan Sheibani) and in Tom Morris’ and Emma Rice’s A Matter of Life and Death (director: Emma Rice). She was seen in the production Red Demon Akaoni by Noda Hideki at the Young Vic in London and at the Theatre Bunkamura in Tokyo. Apart from her many stage appearances, Tamzin Griffin also appears regularly on camera for film and TV. Her most recent shooting was opposite Simon Pegg for the movie A Fantastic Fear of Everything (director: Crispian Mills). She also appeared in the comedy Calcium Kid (director: Alex De Rakoff), in the documentary Chernobyl (director: Nick Murphy), in the Bollywood box office hit Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (director: Caran Johar) and in the comedy series Casanova and Smack the Pony. Smaller children will remember her appearances as Funny Lady in the series Teletubbies.
