In The Queen of Spades, Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky carries us off to the gloomy St Petersburg of the late 18th century. The opera contains all the ingredients of a gripping story: an unhappy love affair, a tragic ending and a dark secret said to win every card game. Together we will discover Tchaikovsky’s romantic music, devise our own version of the opera and visit the Grosses Festspielhaus to listen to The Queen of Spades dress rehearsal with the Vienna Philharmonic.
