ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s Jedermann (Everyman) lies at the very heart of the Salzburg Festival. ‘The entire city holds its breath for this play’, wrote Max Reinhardt during the 1930s, ‘even the children act out Jedermann.’ Those children did indeed enact their own performance of Hofmannsthal’s Play of the Rich Man’s Death for their own amusement, managing to get onto the Domplatz stage (Cathedral Square) to imitate what they had surreptitiously observed during the play’s rehearsals. Just like then, the children and young people who take part in the Jedermann camp will experience the original version on the Domplatz, and after an intensive week of preparation present their own play with much choral singing. A small group of enthusiastic percussionists and drummers is required in order to create the right atmosphere for the Devil’s scenes – please contact us!
