11th Special Appearance of the Vienna Philharmonic with Young Wind and Brass Talents

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

For the eleventh time, the Salzburg Festival hosts a special appearance of members of the Vienna Philharmonic together with young talented wind and brass musicians. For this anniversary, young musicians from Salzburg and – for the second time already – from Lower Austria are showcased together with members of the Vienna Philharmonic under the baton of Karl Jeitler at the Felsenreitschule. In addition to the opportunity of working with members of the Vienna Philharmonic, the special feature of this project is that it introduces the young musicians to opera literature and composers – a genre often ignored by today’s wind and brass music scene. The project is a cooperation between the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna Philharmonic and the Salzburg State Association of Wind Bands; among others, it is supported by the State of Salzburg.
