ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy supports the education of young orchestral players – and has already produced many professional musicians. 50 students of all orchestral instruments from Austria’s music universities audition for a place and then receive intensive chamber music and instrumental coaching during the three weeks of their stay in Salzburg. 25 different chamber music projects in many different formations, ranging from classical to modern music, will be rehearsed with a member of the Vienna Philharmonic. Excerpts from these works will then be presented at a grand final marathon of three subsequent concerts as part of the Salzburg Festival. The detailed programme will only be determined at the end of the Academy, and thus, musical surprises are guaranteed. In addition, the young musicians have the opportunity to perform in Festival productions as stage musicians.
