With the Young Singers Project, the Salzburg Festival created a high-carat platform in 2008 to support rising young vocal artists. At international auditions, young vocalists are selected for the Young Singers Project; they subsequently get to work with Festival artists as part of their scholarship. Their tuition includes not only musical aspects, but also scenic rehearsals, language coaching and repertoire expansion. These encounters and the practical work at the Festival make the YSP a professional education project internationally regarded as a benchmark. Members of the Young Singers Project are responsible for the performances of La Cenerentola for Children as well as Die Entführung aus dem Serail for Children (please have a look at our Children’s and Youth Programmes); they also appear in other productions of the 2014 Festival season. Furthermore, there will be public master classes led by major Festival artists. In a final concert the young singers are introduced to their audience.
