Members of the Angelika Prokopp Sommerakademie of the Vienna Philharmonic
The Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy supports the education of young orchestral players – and has already produced many professional musicians. This year, the participants have the opportunity to perform not only as stage musicians in the productions of
Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg,
Don Carlo, Rienzi, Falstaff and
Così fan tutte, but also as musicians in the children’s operas of the Salzburg Festival.
During their stay in Salzburg, the 60 participants receive intensive tuition from about 30 members of the Vienna Philharmonic. At the final marathon, they perform selections from 20 chamber music works they have rehearsed, presented in three successive concerts with different programmes. The detailed programme, featuring works from the classical to the modern era, will only be determined at the end of the Academy, and thus, musical surprises are guaranteed.
