ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Innenschau (Interior View) is a journey into the interior of a human being whose soul is revealed during the performance one layer at a time, until we are left with darkness – swallowed by the fathomless pit of another, foreign world. Thus, this interior view also looks outwards and leads us far beyond the exterior appearances of things and humans. In his sixth production, Jakop Ahlbom shows a bizarre world in which people are driven by their fantasies and secret desires. Surprising and inescapable like a thriller, the life of a nurse, a stalker and a laid-off bank employee are connected to each other. With a mixture of dance, pantomime and live music by the band Alamo Race Track, Jakop Ahlbom turns the world upside down and gives us admission to the subconscious.
The Swedish director Jakop Ahlbom knows how to describe the moments of awkwardness between his figures in a humorous way, and to tell their stories with tension and a sense of drama. Ahlbom moved to the Netherlands in the early 1990s and studied acting in Amsterdam. Since 2000 he has worked on creating an extraordinary œuvre.
