ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Francesco Nicola Fago (1677–1745) was a student at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini in Naples, where he ultimately spent most of his working life. Leonardo Leo and Niccolò Jommelli were among his students. He also composed sacred works, including cantatas, a Stabat mater, a Te Deum, as well as a number of operas and oratorios.
The libretto to Faraone sommerso is based on the biblical story of the liberation of the Jewish people from their Egyptian slavery thanks to the miraculous passage through the Red Sea.
